the one woman touring play
Amelia Bloomer, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Mrs. Sydney
Savory Buckman parade through a fourteen year old girl's bedroom as she reaches for an understanding of social customs and women's role in history. Through a magical book and eleven layers of clothing we travel through time as dress reform is interwoven through the women's rights movement of the past 150 years. "Kate's Pants" is a light hearted introduction to women's history. It lasts forty minutes and is suitable for audiences from third grade through senior citizens. After viewing the play as an assembly upper elementary students can participate in workshops where the students write a skit, get costumes, and perform for each other.
